Le terme fran\u00e7ais digital d\u00e9signe aussi bien le calcul num\u00e9rique \u2014 mod\u00e9lisation, reconnaissance de formes, bases de donn\u00e9es \u2014 que ce qui rel\u00e8ve des doigts et de la main \u2014 fabrication manuelle, d\u00e9signation et usage de l\u2019objet, signes.<\/p>\n<p>(digital) Soba Choko est une <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><i>\u00e9tude de cas<\/i><\/span>, centr\u00e9e sur un objet sp\u00e9cifique, propice \u00e0 une approche multidisciplinaire&nbsp;: historique, esth\u00e9tique, ethnographique, anthropologique, technologique, etc. Le projet se d\u00e9veloppe selon des chapitres ayant une certaine ind\u00e9pendance et dans une approche comparatiste, qui associent des artistes et des chercheuses et chercheurs de plusieurs disciplines ainsi que des partenaires universitaires, industriels et mus\u00e9ologues.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Remarque&nbsp;: Digital Soba Choko est un sc\u00e9nario ouvert \u00e0 des op\u00e9rations originales et distinctes, r\u00e9sultant de diverses initiatives inventives \u00e0 venir, dont la conjugaison peut elle-m\u00eame constituer une proposition artistique.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>La recherche consid\u00e8re au Japon, et hors du Japon, les exemplaires anciens, les collections, la production contemporaine, les usages. Elle conduit \u00e0 confronter ces pi\u00e8ces existantes \u00e0 des pi\u00e8ces cr\u00e9\u00e9es dans un esprit de <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><i>trad<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">ucti<\/span>on<\/i><\/span>, de croisement avec des objets comparables ayant des histoires distinctes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019objet nomm\u00e9 soba choko semble propre \u00e0 la culture japonaise. C\u2019est un r\u00e9cipient de c\u00e9ramique, un tronc de c\u00f4ne aussi haut que large, dont la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie minimaliste \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de la main lui a fait traverser le temps. Il conna\u00eet des variations de mati\u00e8re et de d\u00e9coration mais il a une histoire ancienne, en particulier dans sa version de porcelaine blanche avec des motifs au pinceau au bleu de cobalt.<\/p>\n<p>Le soba choko est nomm\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de son usage dans la consommation de nouilles de sarrasin. Il joue comme interm\u00e9diaire entre le plat et la bouche, pour tremper les nouilles dans une sauce. Mais il est en v\u00e9rit\u00e9 ouvert aux usages les plus vari\u00e9s et donc populaire dans la cat\u00e9gorie g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des r\u00e9cipients individuels. <em>Soba choko<\/em> est une mani\u00e8re de nom propre qui indique une <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">singularit\u00e9<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Au d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle, le fondateur du mouvement Mingei de <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">valorisation des arts populaires<\/span>, Yanagi Soetsu, citait le soba choko pour le paradoxe d\u2019une beaut\u00e9 relevant \u00e0 la fois de l\u2019utilit\u00e9 quotidienne et de la mati\u00e8re luxueuse. Ce gobelet de porcelaine blanche aux motifs bleu de cobalt s\u2019inscrit comme t\u00e9moin d\u2019une vaste circulation de marchandises ayant marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire en reliant la Chine, la Cor\u00e9e, le Japon, le Moyen Orient, l\u2019Europe.<\/p>\n<p>La simplicit\u00e9 du soba choko et l\u2019uniformit\u00e9 de sa forme, associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 de ses motifs, incite \u00e0 le consid\u00e9rer comme un <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">support<\/span>. Sa particularit\u00e9 tient \u00e0 l\u2019unit\u00e9 d\u2019un objet associant une norme volumique et une digression d\u00e9corative, picturale et langagi\u00e8re. Des ouvrages encyclop\u00e9diques recensent des milliers de pi\u00e8ces historiques, class\u00e9es selon la th\u00e9matique de leurs d\u00e9cors, de leurs <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">motifs<\/span> et de leurs <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">signes<\/span>. Si ces pi\u00e8ces sont par essence populaires et modestes, leur valeur tient aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 l\u2019effet de collection qu\u2019elles produisent comme \u00e0 l&rsquo;attachement que chaque objet suscite.<\/p>\n<p>Il s\u2019agit de mettre au point des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s num\u00e9riques automatiques capables d\u2019une part de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer et de fabriquer des gobelets et d\u2019autre part d\u2019en peindre les motifs, tout en contribuant \u00e0 prolonger la <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">diversit\u00e9<\/span> des objets appartenant \u00e0 la famille du soba choko. Cette inventivit\u00e9 peut prolonger une mise en \u0153uvre de dimension gestuelle, corporelle et mentale.<\/p>\n<p>Les m\u00e9thodes d\u2019intelligence artificielle supposent une distance critique et des principes comparatistes. La notion de <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">rudimentaire<\/span>, y compris en technologie, ne sera pas consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une limite mais comme la dimension esth\u00e9tique d&rsquo;un processus de <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">transmission<\/span> et d&rsquo;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">apprentissage<\/span>. Sera \u00e9galement exp\u00e9riment\u00e9 l\u2019aspect performatif de la fabrication d\u2019un objet attach\u00e9 \u00e0 une circonstance particuli\u00e8re et \u00e0 une personne pouvant se reconna\u00eetre comme auteur. Le <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">performatif<\/span> trouvera encore un \u00e9cho dans des usages et rituels mis en sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet peut conduire \u00e0 des ateliers, \u00e0 des expos\u00e9s didactiques et culturels et \u00e0 des publications. Il doit conduire \u00e0 une exposition principale r\u00e9unissant des soba choko de collection anciens ou contemporains et les pi\u00e8ces r\u00e9sultantes de l\u2019op\u00e9ration (digital) Soba Choko, y compris sous forme de workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Les captures vid\u00e9o des recherches et exp\u00e9rimentations, \u00e9troitement li\u00e9es aux proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de fabrication, les performances, les enqu\u00eates et entretiens enregistr\u00e9s avec les chercheurs comme avec les personnes concern\u00e9es \u00e0 un titre ou \u00e0 un autre, en particulier au Japon, donneront mati\u00e8re \u00e0 des films. <em>Digital &amp; Digital<\/em> est donc \u00e9galement le titre d&rsquo;un film con\u00e7u comme \u00e9tant \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re un pan de (digital) Soba Choko, propre \u00e0 \u00a0l&rsquo;ouvrir sur un ensemble de digressions th\u00e9matiques pertinentes et vers d&rsquo;autres lieux de diffusion et d&rsquo;autres publics. Ce film sera un diptyque. La premi\u00e8re partie pr\u00e9sentera l&rsquo;objet soba choko, son histoire, \u00a0ses significations,\u00a0sa fabrication au Japon \u00a0et le processus de \u00a0traduction mise en place ici. En fran\u00e7ais, digital est ce qui concerne les doigts mais ce peut \u00eatre aussi num\u00e9rique. Certains consid\u00e8rent qu\u2019en fran\u00e7ais, le digital technologique, computationnel, renvoie \u00e0 la d\u00e9signation, le d\u00e9ictique, au toucher. On s\u2019autorise donc la double signification qui croise fran\u00e7ais et anglais.<\/p>\n<p>En parlant de \u00ab\u00a0digital et digital\u00a0\u00bb, on souligne les deux significations mais on peut aussi s\u2019en tenir \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0digital\u00a0\u00bb pour les d\u00e9signer ensemble.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>La formule (digital) ou bien (d) d\u00e9signe une coexistence, une imbrication dialectique, entre le digital \u00ab \u00e0 la main\u00a0\u00bb et le digital \u00ab\u00a0num\u00e9rique \u00bb. Plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement, (d) indique que le gobelet soba choko est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 dans la probl\u00e9matique du <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">contexte digital<\/span> d&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p>Comment une chose peut-elle \u00eatre concern\u00e9e par le digital\u00a0? Si l\u2019on dit que le soba choko invite \u00e0 une \u00ab <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00e9tude de cas<\/span>\u00a0\u00bb, c\u2019est parce que le (digital) peut se rapporter, dans toutes ses modalit\u00e9s, \u00e0 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">toutes les composantes de l\u2019objet<\/span>\u00a0: son histoire, sa fabrication, sa mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9, ses variantes, ses usages, ses significations, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le projet (digital) Soba Choko, le digital qualifie des op\u00e9rations num\u00e9riques polyvalentes mais aussi tout ce qui rel\u00e8ve du doigt et de la main en c\u00e9ramique et, en particulier pour le gobelet japonais, du travail au pinceau qui tient du motif, du dessin et de l\u2019\u00e9criture. L\u2019id\u00e9e de d\u00e9signation et de signe est \u00e9galement incluse.<\/p>\n<p>La qualit\u00e9 manuelle concerne le toucher, l\u2019usage, les sensations de la prise en main, le savoir-faire, la confection, la d\u00e9coration, etc.<\/p>\n<p>La qualit\u00e9 num\u00e9rique se partage quant \u00e0 elle en plusieurs fonctions\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>le digital est celui de la g\u00e9n\u00e9rativit\u00e9 des processus, de leur automatisation, du motif au pinceau comme de la construction et la mise en forme du gobelet\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>le digital est celui des bases de donn\u00e9es documentaires, des op\u00e9rations d\u2019identification et de classement dans la perspective de collections, d\u2019expositions et d\u2019\u00e9changes\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>le digital peut intervenir dans les m\u00e9thodes de dessin de motifs \u00e0 partir de diverses r\u00e9f\u00e9rences, y compris dans des principes de croisement, d\u2019hybridation et de traduction\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>le digital concerne un aspect majeur de la documentation et de la collection mat\u00e9rielle puisque le commerce en ligne occupe la premi\u00e8re place dans le commerce, y compris d\u2019antiquit\u00e9s et de brocante\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>le digital porte les publications, les commentaires et les \u00e9changes ayant trait aux objets, notamment sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>le digital peut op\u00e9rer dans des actions cr\u00e9atives et exp\u00e9rimentales partag\u00e9es entre plusieurs lieux et collectifs distants, \u00e0 commencer par la France et le Japon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Novembre 2021 &#8211; avril 2022<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jlggb.net\/collection\/\">Retour \u00e0 la page d&rsquo;accueil<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong><em>ENGLISH<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>(digital) Soba Choko is an experimental artistic project relating to the study, collection and manufacture of ceramic cups, and particularly porcelain, similar to soba choko cups of Japanese tradition, at the junction of traditional techniques and digital techniques.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The chosen problem is designated by \u201cdigital &amp; digital\u201d. The French term <\/em>digital<em> designates both digital computing \u2014 modeling, pattern recognition, databases \u2014 as well as that which involves the fingers and the hand \u2014 manual manufacturing, designation and use of the object, signs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(digital) Soba Choko is a case study, focused on a specific object, conducive to a multidisciplinary approach: historical, ethnographic, anthropological, aesthetic, technological, etc. The project is developed according to chapters with a certain independence and in a comparative approach, which bring together artists and researchers from several disciplines as well as university, industrial and museologist partners.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The research considers in Japan, and outside Japan, old pieces, collections, contemporary production and uses. It leads to confronting these existing pieces with other ones created in a spirit of translation, of crossing with comparable objects having distinct histories.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The object named soba choko seems to be specific to Japanese culture. It is a ceramic container, a trunk of cone as tall as it is wide, whose minimalist geometry on the scale of the hand has made it stand the test of time. It knows variations of material and decoration but has an ancient history, in particular in his version of white porcelain with patterns paintbrush with cobalt blue.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Soba choko is named after its use in the consumption of buckwheat noodles. It acts as an intermediary between the dish and the mouth, to dip the noodles in a sauce. But it is actually open to the most varied uses and therefore popular in the general category of individual containers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>At the beginning of the 20th century, the founder of the Mingei movement for the promotion of the popular arts, Yanagi Soetsu, cited soba choko for the paradox of beauty that is both a matter of everyday use and luxurious material. Moreover, this white porcelain goblet with cobalt blue patterns is a witness to a vast flow of goods that marked history by connecting China, Korea, Japan, the Middle East, Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The simplicity of soba choko and the uniformity of its form, combined with the diversity of its patterns, encourage us to consider it as a support\/a medium?. Its singularity is due to the unity of an object associating a volume standard and a decorative, pictorial and linguistic digression. Encyclopedic works list thousands of historical pieces, classified according to the theme of their decorations. If these pieces are in essence popular and modest, their value today depends on the collection effect they produce.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>One of the project\u2019s focus is to develop automatic digital processes capable on the one hand of generating and manufacturing ceramic goblets and on the other hand of painting the patterns, while helping to extend the diversity of objects belonging to the soba choko family. This inventiveness can prolong an implementation of gestural, bodily and mental dimension.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Artificial intelligence methods assume critical distance and comparative principles. The notion of rudimentary, including in technology, will not be considered as a limit but as an aesthetic dimension. Will also be experienced the performative aspect of the manufacture of an object attached to a particular context and a person who can recognize himself as an author. The performative will still find an echo in staged uses and rituals.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The project can lead to workshops, didactic and cultural presentations and publications. It is to culminate in a main exhibition bringing together old and contemporary soba choko from collections and the resulting pieces from operation Digital Soba Choko.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Video captures of research and experimentation, closely linked to manufacturing processes, performances, surveys and interviews recorded with researchers as well as with the persons concerned in one way or another,
