Comme P\u00e9kin, qui s&rsquo;en est inspir\u00e9e, Xian, elle m\u00eame construite selon le mod\u00e8le de l&rsquo;ancienne capitale Chang&rsquo;an dont elle reprend pour une part le site, pr\u00e9sente un plan en damier avec un axe nord-sud tr\u00e8s fort. La principale rue est-ouest croise l&rsquo;axe nord-sud \u00e0 la Tour de la Cloche qui est donc le centre de la ville. Quand, partant \u00e0 l&rsquo;ouest, on traverse un centre commercial d\u00e9guis\u00e9 en place publique et qu&rsquo;on laisse au nord la Grande Mosqu\u00e9 et la Tour du Tambour (Gu Lou, 1380, 1669, 1739, 1953&#8230;) \u00e0 l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e de la rue Beiyuanmen, rue commer\u00e7ante, ancienne, \u00ab restaur\u00e9e \u00bb et pittoresque, on rencontre cet ensemble clinquant de nouvelles constructions \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re chinoise.
